Christopher Lau, hailing from Queens, New York City, is the founder, host, and producer of Unban Coolies. He is a passionate advocate for diverse literature, particularly in the face of book bans that target marginalized communities. His journey began when his favorite childhood book, “Coolies,” was banned in a Florida school district. This book resonated with him deeply as he saw characters who resembled himself, his parents, and his grandparents.

Determined to make a difference, Christopher took matters into his own hands. Witnessing the alarming surge of book bans sweeping across the nation, he utilizes his video editing skills to raise awareness and spark conversations. Through his podcast and YouTube channel, UNBAN COOLIES, he conducts interviews with a diverse panel of award-winning authors and rockstar librarians, shedding light on the consequences of book bans and amplifying the voices of those affected.
